inside surf road: Taking Liz's unfinished basement laundry room from embarrassing to insta-worthy, on a budget
This week, as I started preparing for this blog post, I started looking at photos of our basement "before" and was honestly embarrassed. Not only as an interior designer (where the expectations are already a little high!), but as a human who has invited other humans to step foot into my basement, it was an abomination. That is not to say that it is pristine now, because it definitely isn't! Looking back, though, the transformation is pretty incredible.
Laundry Room Before
No wonder I was never excited to do a Peloton in this mess! Ok, so I still have not done a Peloton so maybe that wasn't the problem, but still. This before is an unorganized, insane shit storm.
The Process
To get started on making this chaos into the cozy, much more finished space that it is now, I tackled the project much like I would for a client. It all starts with drawings and Pinterest boards!
Since we were not going to be spending the money to do custom cabinets for this project, and a lot of it was DIY, the drawings were really more inspirational as well. They do give a good idea of where to get started, and help plan how things will kind of look in the end.
