Shop the Project: No. 309, A Quick "Scroll Stopping" Vacation Home on a Budget

You gotta love a referral that turns into another referral and a quick and dirty, all hands on deck, full house install on a budget! June turned into an absolute whirlwind as we agreed to complete the design AND install of this newly built 4 bedroom house in Bethel, Maine in just 1 month. This was a complete departure from most of our projects, where we meticulously select every detail and wait months (upon months!) for the rooms to take shape and come together in the final install.

Our client is an experienced investor who lives in New Jersey and owns several vacation homes he rents out on Airbnb and VRBO. He had a very tight timeline, and strict budget. This meant that if an item we sourced (mostly on Wayfair, Target or Amazon!) went out of stock before we could grab it, we had to scramble to find something similar that was available in our timeline. It was a ton of work and a bit stressful on our tiny design firm, but the end result is something we are all beyond proud of. Not only did we do it in time, but we actually came in under budget! Call it our specialty ;) The client, for his part, already has several bookings and is looking to the next project (hopefully with us on board from the very beginning this time ;)).

It's all in the Details

The fun thing about designing a "scroll stopping" interior is that you get to do things you wouldn't do in somebody's primary home. We installed multiple arcade style games, a couple of neon lights and some super fun, on theme wallpaper. It seems like these details have stopped at least a few people's airbnb scroll so far, and the Northstar Hideaway is well on its way to being booked for the season.
