March Recap + Favorite Links

On a personal note…

March was a wild weather month here in Maine, granting us several days without power but also lots of good snow storms for great skiing. We took full advantage and head up to the Mountain this weekend for our last ski weekend of the 2024 season!

We also had my son’s 7th birthday in March, and celebrated by inviting some of his friends to scale 50’ rock walls at Salt Pump Climbing Co, one of his favorite adventure activities.

Stacy took her fam to Disney World for the first time, and of course, it was magical. We also had a Stevens/Kirby weekend up in Rangeley celebrating Stacy’s birthday with bowling, skiing and a dinner that was probably too fancy to take the kids to but Rangeley fancy isn’t that fancy so it was also probably fine.

studio biz

Here in the Surf Road studio we were busy busy busy! We had our first in-studio Design Presentations which were SO fun. We also wrapped up and photographed a new project, Project No. 218, an urban condo in Portland, Maine. Stay tuned here for pictures coming soon, but subscribers to our newsletter already got a first look so you may want to sign up for next time!

Maybe the most exciting studio news in March was the launch of our new website! If you haven’t already, please do take a minute to browse around. We are so proud of the new site, and would love to hear your feedback! We also moved our Instagram account to a new one, and have been having a great time engaging with our new and old friends there. If you aren’t already, please follow along with us for updates, behind the scenes and more at @surfroadinteriors

We have a few projects starting in April and a few more that we will hopefully be photographing next month, so be sure to check in here and on Instagram for real time updates!

book club + march fave links

If you haven’t been following along with my book club the last few months, you are really missing out. I am reading more than I’ve probably ever read before, and flying through every Sarah Mass book I can get my hands on. I read the entire Court of Thornes and Roses series, and am now on book 6 of the Throne of Glass series. I have to warn you they are all slow starts, but completely worth pushing through. You can see all the books and grab them yourself HERE. Let me know if you do!

Which brings us to our March favorite links! As a reminder we do earn a small commission from links you shop from our website, and we very much thank you in advance for supporting our small Maine business in this way!

  1. In an effort to make our home feel like Spring despite the record snowfall, I spruced up our mantel with this faux Ficus Leaf stem. It looks as amazing in person as it does in photos, and is a great height to add to the mantel!

  2. I also grabbed some new votives like this one and this one and an adorable watering can I’m using to display some dried Eucalyptus.

  3. If you are following along on Instagram you saw that I posted about this Knife Set I found on Amazon, which is so sleek and cute, and I don’t mind one bit the tiny amount of counter space it takes up!

  4. I also replaced my utensil canister with this Alabaster Pillar Candle holder and I’m loving how it looks with my Quartzite countertops.

What do you think? Which March fave is YOUR fave?!
